Philanthropic Programs

Operation School Bell^®

Members provide new clothing and hygiene kits to elementary schoolchildren in need in six school districts (Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Lovejoy, and Prosper). In addition, members provide clothing as needed to CITY House (a children’s shelter in Plano).

Read Aloud Program

Members tutor elementary schoolchildren weekly in reading at Davis Elementary School in Plano. In 2006, the chapter received an Honorary Life Membership Award in the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers Association in recognition for its service to children and youth.

Making It Happen

Members provide monthly craft projects and refreshments for senior citizens at two government assisted living homes in Plano.

Wee Memories

Members prepare bereavement memory boxes for the staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano and Allen to present to parents whose babies have died at or shortly after birth.

Pass the Word

Members distribute magazines to patients and waiting room areas at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.

Bright Ideas

Members tutor and mentor elementary schoolchildren in an after-school “Homework Club” at Bright Elementary in Frisco.

Outreach

Members engage in activities that are specifically short-term or one-time responses to community needs.
